Political science researcher Mohamed Bassiouni Abdel Halim said in an exclusive commentary to the Arab Wall website that there are opportunities for President Najib Mikati to succeed in forming the new Lebanese government, after winning the nomination of 62 members of Parliament.

Abdel Halim affirmed that the chances of Mikati’s success are linked to international support, which was confirmed by his statements to Lebanese newspaper Al-Nahar on July 26 that “there are international and American guarantees that Lebanon will not collapse.” Mikati also highlighted that he, “wants to form a technical government, to boost the French initiative of supporting Lebanon.” These statements indicate Mikati has foreign support to facilitate his mission, boosting his chances at success.
